HELLO!

What inspires me about art are the stories hidden within or behind the images. The
discovery of those stories creates something much more meaningful for me, that speaks to me in a more powerful way. When I wander around art galleries, that’s what I look for. When I read about artists, their stories then lend greater meaning to their canvases. In my
own painting I strive to do the same – create a piece of art that celebrates more than the image on the canvas.

'Disappearing Act'

Animals represent the diversity and beauty of our world, but also its vulnerability. Many species face imminent extinction through the actions of humans. Through this series of paintings, the artist seeks to pay tribute to these species, while forcing us to look them in the eye as they disappear. The eyes of the animals convey the sadness and incomprehension of a growing lack of cohabitation between man and animal; the directness of their look challenges us: “Do you really want us to disappear?”

Portraits
'Windows to the soul'

GREEN ROBE - The mother is captured by her daughter in a magical ‘good’ moment during her battle with Parkinson’s.
BOWLER HAT - The father, in a moment of fun, dons a bowler hat he finds on his daughter’s hat stand. His eyes twinkle mischievously, as he laughs at himself.

Collection
'Fact or Fantasy'

BLUE GODDESSES - This painting represents the injustices wrought on thousands and thousands of women labelled ‘witches’. They return to claim redemption from a world now beginning to recognise that they were simply a group of sisters, mothers, grandmothers, aunts, daughters, who were misjudged, misunderstood, and violently mistreated. They return in silent solidarity.
SELKIE - The shift-shaping selkie is seen here swimming with a mermaid, but are they simply mythological creatures or something more real?
